What is AnyHID?

AnyHID does what its name says. It tests any USB HID device connected to a PC that runs Microsoft operating systems Windows 98 or later. We think that AnyHID is the most convenient test program available for debugging USB HID devices. AnyHID lets you browse through all HID devices that are connected to the PC, and see everything that's in the HID interface of any device. And we mean you can see EVERYTHING:
If you find you had forgotten to connect the right device, no problem: just connect it now, and AnyHID will find it and update its list of available HID devices. You can then exercise any HID device completely -- even if you didn't design the device yourself!
Test report results from AnyHID are stamped with the date and time, and you can type comments in the test results window to document your work. When you're ready, these test results can be printed, saved to a file, or copied to the Windows clipboard and pasted into other programs like your favorite word processor. Test results can even be automatically logged to a file as the tests proceed.
Several levels of test report detail are available from AnyHID. If you just want to look at the data values that are passed between your device and the PC, without any extra clutter, you can get that. If you need extra detail, you can get that. In addition, you can have AnyHID report on every low level HID API call it makes, and what result was returned. You can change these options at any time, to suit your need for information.
AnyHID does require that your HID device work well enough to be successfully "enumerated" by Windows. HID devices whose firmware is created by HIDmaker automatically pass that standard. If your device doesn't enumerate successfully, or even if you are just curious about what goes on when your HID device is enumerated by Windows, you should use our USBwatch program, which shows the actual USB traffic that passes between your HID device and Windows.
