How USBwatch Works
USBwatch currently works with Microchip processors, using the high-speed hardware serial port on the device to communicate diagnostic information to the USBwatch program on the PC. Here is a block diagram showing the connections you need to make to your board:

But What if My Peripheral NEEDS Its Serial Port???
Relax. If you need USBwatch at all, you will only need it at the beginning of your development work, while you are bringing up your USB communications. At this point, you will not yet need to add much real functionality to your peripheral firmware, so the hardware serial port will still be available for use by USBwatch.
Once you get your peripheral working well enough to send test values back and forth reliably, you shouldn't need USBwatch anymore. You can then disable the USBwatch software on the peripheral, and start adding the real peripheral functionality that your project needs.
